I'm Anthony Peters and I'd like to welcome you to the website of Peter S Peters & Company Limited Insurance Loss Assessors & Claims Negotiators. I hope that the information contained on our site will show you how we can help & guide you through what can be a traumatic process of pursuing an insurance claim.

Background
Peter S Peters & Company Limited was established in 1977 to represent people making insurance claims following fire, burglary, flood, impact and subsidence, both at home and at work. Following in my father and grandfathers footsteps, I joined the family business in 1992 after graduating with a BA (Hons) degree in Business Studies. We are located in Mill Hill, London NW7 and deal with household & commercial property claims. We do not deal with motor claims or personal injury claims.

Loss Adjusters
Insurers do not deal with claims themselves; they appoint Loss Adjusters. The role of the Loss Adjuster is to investigate the circumstances of the claim. They will reject the claim if in their opinion there is no cover under the policy or if you have failed to comply with any policy terms or conditions. They often compare the information given at the time of claim with the information provided when the policy was taken out to see if there are any discrepancies that may allow them to cancel or void the policy and therefore the claim. If the claim is accepted they will be looking at how they can minimise the amount paid. This may be by using their own suppliers to replace items, or their own contractors to undertake building works, or even a reduced cash settlement.

Loss Assessors
As a Loss Assessor, my role is to protect the interests of my Client. I guide them step by step through the claims process, advising & explaining the options available to them and ensuring they receive every last penny that they are due under the terms of their policy. Apart from relieving the stress and aggravation which a claim inevitably brings, I deal with all the necessary paperwork & administration, telephone calls, meetings and negotiations with the Loss Adjuster; effectively & efficiently managing your claim on a day to day basis from start to finish.

Service
I pride myself on the personal attention and prompt, courteous treatment of my clients. My aim is complete satisfaction with the service that we provide. The vast majority of our work comes from personal recommendations from past clients and it is not unusual for new clients to be recommended to us by people that we assisted twenty or thirty years ago. By taking the best possible care of my clients I ensure that this will continue into the future.

Professionalism
Being a small industry I have been meeting the same Loss Adjusting firms & individual Loss Adjusters for many years. The professional & respectful way that I conduct my claims means that I have strong relationships with these people, which enables me to conclude claims with the minimum fuss & delay and to my Clients best interest. Our good reputation often reflects on our Clients, helping to resolve their claims positively & promptly.

Services
Whether your claim requires a contractor or forensic accountant, a surveyor or an engineer we have links to numerous specialist companies that we have been working alongside for many years and can rely upon & trust.

Fees
Our fees are based upon a percentage of the claim settlement and this ensures that our focus is to recover as much on behalf of our client as possible. There is no fee payable if a claim is unsuccessful. Sometimes it is fairer to our clients to deal with their claim on a consultancy basis or a fixed fee basis and I am happy to meet prospective clients to discuss a claim without any obligation whatsoever. Being a VAT registered business our invoices are subject to VAT at the prevailing rate.

Peter S Peters & Company Limited are authorised and regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) an independent body that regulates the financial services industry in the UK. Our firm reference number is 306859 and our details may be confirmed on the FCA’s register at www.fca.org.uk or by telephoning the FCA on 0800 111 6768.

Respect
We do not accept work simply to generate income, we only involve ourselves in claims where our involvement is going to give our client value for their money. If it is a straightforward claim we would rather provide free advice and guidance by telephone, than charge a fee for something that could be achieved yourself. Most claims over £5,000 would benefit from our involvement; however we will deal with claims of any size. 

First Contact
Our initial meeting is normally without charge as I will not accept work without first meeting my Client. I would also not expect a Client to instruct me without having met me first. There are however occasional instances where an initial meeting may be chargeable. 

Early Involvement 
If you are thinking about instructing a Loss Assessor it is important that you do so from the start of the claims process. Although we do take over existing claims, it is much easier to set the right tone and direction of a claim where we have been involved from the start. We are often instructed by our Clients before they have notified their Insurers, which is the preferred situation.
